Left: A picture of Wally Ritchie Ex PC 348 'A' presented by Ex PC 390 'A' / 139138 Albert Lewis (see picture at top of page)

Albert writes:

Alpha Delta Plus,
I attach a photo. of the latest tenant at The Croft (Police Pensioners Housing Association at Yapton, Arundel, West Sussex) one Wally Ritchie, ex P.C. 348 'A'. He joined the Job in March 1947, after he was demobbed from the Household Cavalry, after a couple of months probation at A.D. he was posted to Wellington Arch 'AW' where he spent the rest of his service until Armistice Day 1973. He surely must be a candidate for the longest serving officer at a single Nick in the Met. Funny thing I was myself at 'AW' for a couple of years, but neither of us remembers the other.
Ex P.C.390'A'/139138 Albert Lewis.
